Counter Terrorism And State Extremism in 21st Century Europe with Nisha Kapoor
On October 15th, 2017 the CJL welcomed Dr Nisha Kapoor for an event centred on her latest book “Deport, Deprive, Extradite”. The colloquium brought together practitioners dealing with state repression and racist policies ranging from academics to activists and legal experts. France and the UK have been at the forefront to pass laws of exception targeting minorities first then being extended to the rest of the population. The CJL therefore makes it a priority to address the burning issue of human rights and civil liberties in Europe in the face of failed foreign policies with terrorism as a by product.

Deport Deprive Extradite – Nisha Kapoor
The so called “War on Terror” that was initiated by then US President George W Bush has been going on for seventeen years now. Far from having brought stability to the world, it has lead to its further destabilisation. To assess the war on terror, the CJL has invited Dr Nisha Kapoor from the University of York so she can present her latest book “Deport, Deprive, Extradite” for an event at SciencesPo Paris. Two roundtables will be held with experts ranging from Pr Didier Bigo (King’s College), Francesco Ragazzi (University of Leiden), Akos Kopper (ELTE University of Budapest), Malia Bouattia (Former Head of NUS) and online privacy advocate Felix Treguer among others.
